Work Near Home, The New Global Trend
Office spaces will most likely change their design and purpose, but they won’t die. They play an essential role in increasing productivity and interaction, not to mention that real, face-to-face conversations are imperative for our wellbeing.
At the same time, the cold season has started and the number of Covid cases is growing. People might feel safer to work from home, but still look for ways to socialize. Thus, we might witness a new trend emerging: WNH = work from near home.
WNH can bring many advantages: shorter commutes, employees become more productive and can focus better, the ability to separate private and professional lives better, it can boost their social life and activities, and even improve their health through daily bike rides/walks, etc.
At the same time, while WNH seems to be a winning bet for some, this new format will only work for those living in areas that give them the possibility to reach these spaces easily. It might be easy to work from near home if you have a flexible working space close to you. Also, living in small cities or in areas with a low level of real estate development might stop people from going with this option (…)
