How is Bright Spaces supporting you to reach your ESG goals as a developer

ESG offers an overview of an organisation’s approach towards the environment, the social context and corporate governance. The term was used intensely in 2004 in a report created by multiple financial institutions at the invitation of the UN, called “Who Cares Wins”.

The concept is nowadays strongly adopted by the real estate industry. As one of the most important economical players with one of the biggest carbon footprints at a global level, integrating and reaching these goals is critical for a sustainable future.

In this interview we conducted with Sonal Jain, Head of Sustainability at Workspace Group, she emphasizes the crucial role real estate must give to sustainability: “We as humans spend 90% of our awake time in buildings, whether it’s at home or in our offices or shopping malls. So the environment we are in has to absolutely be cordial to our health and wellbeing – whether it’s the air quality, the amount of light we are getting and or the kind of finishes we have.”

We are motivated to support landlords and developers through our 3D digital twin marketing and leasing solution, while making sure we also have a responsible attitude towards the environment, our company culture and relationships with stakeholders.

This is why this year we’ve worked together with Aktio on a report, mapping all our environmental impact and looking for ways to decrease our carbon footprint. This process is still undergoing, with valuable lessons being learned from our work with Aktio, related to topics such as the biggest emission generators we currently have.

On the other hand, our solution is also an important resource for our clients in achieving their own ESG goals.

Here are some examples of how our 3D digital twin marketing & leasing solution can help you, as a landlord, have a more sustainable approach to the way you do business and impact the community, on each of the 3 verticals:

1. Environmental impact

A virtual tour can reduce greenhouse gas emissions, pollution, and waste by preceding or even completely replacing physical tours. In the context of fighting climate change, digital brochures and digital marketing replace paper promotional materials, reducing deforestation and resource depletion. Signing documents digitally also translates into less printed paper, as well as less mail carriers and less waste.

2. Social impact

The capability to visit a space virtually entails fewer incidents than a physical visit. Using a digital brochure is extremely easy and accessible to anyone with internet access. It is a live tool that engages people in an UX/UI friendly experience, without requiring tech knowledge. Working conditions are improved by reducing the physical meetings and steps needed in a traditional offline transaction process.

3. Corporate Governance

Corporate transparency and equality are more easily achieved through web-based virtual tours that are accessible to anyone. Information is available to anyone fully and timely. GDPR compliance ensures confidentiality and data protection. All documents are online and traceable, which means that the entire marketing and leasing flows are easily controlled.

To conclude, the digital alternative to present, promote and generate documents means less deforestation, less waste and less greenhouse gas. Virtually touring a space decreases travel, responsible for a large part of the carbon footprint.

Socially, digital solutions make for better and safer working conditions, help decrease time-consuming manual tasks and improve communication inside and outside organisations.

Bright Spaces offers more control over data and processes, hence more transparency in the organisation.
